My Poetry

Mercy

I wrote this poem after being really dumb last night. It has less form than my other ones...

O Jesus, Thy poor, wounded heart
It is I who's pierced it so!
All the pain I've caused Thee
Lord, I shall never fully know.
With my acts so selfish
My human heart so weak.
Not satisfied with Perfection
Wanting something more "concrete".
What a fool am I, wretched self!
Who so often reject Thy gifts
But only they are capable
To free me, from the deep to lift
And bring me to Thy glorious Light
The true desire of my hardened heart.
O Love, Thy mercy ever saves me.
It alone redeems my unworthy soul.

  1. Hi there, Elizabeth :) Renee broadcasted your blog on YouTube awhile ago, and after the video series you two put up, I thought I'd come and say hi, and check out your blog. I just wanted to let you know, I think your blog is wonderful. You have a particular eye for poetry, and God is using you in profound ways to reach people by it, and in other ways. I have no doubt He will continue to do so for the rest of your life! God bless you and your blog, and you are certainly in my prayers!

In the love of Christ, which knows no bounds,

Beautifully put- that's what the interior struggle is in my heart a lot of the time. Constantly fighting to realise God alone suffices- solo Dios basta
