Chocolate < God

"'What can bring us happiness?' many say --
Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord.
You have put into my heart a greater joy
Than they have from an abundance of corn and new wine."
-Psalms 4:7&8
This verse is just so appropriate for the Lenten season and the Christian journey in general. Chocolate, food, internet, music or whatever one has given up for Lent could never ever replace the Joy and peace of heart that will be won from conquering these earthly wants in the name of Love. The sacrifice you have chosen has been placed on your heart for a reason. Don't give up. It's worth the fight.

I was stressing out about school and money (per usual) when I went into adoration last night and then I was shown this verse:
"I will bless the Lord who gives me counsel,
who even at night directs my heart."
- Psalm 16:7
He is always watching, always caring, always reminding me of what's really important. He will guide me, He will counsel me. It will be okay.

Rest Dear Child.

A child, a babe, was born for me
By lowly virgin's "yes"
To conquer death and calm the seas
But now, sweet babe, do rest.

True God, I know, but yet still man
I beg Thee, child, rest!
Do not dwell on mighty plans.
Be welcomed here as guest.

My Lord, my God, with awe so great
I look on Thee so low.
Lying there You saw Thy fate
Thy future pains did know.

Before He starts His earthly test
St. Joseph, I ask of thee:
Press Him to thy kindly breast
And kiss Him once for me.

I offer all my sufferings,
And all my earthly best
Up for Thee, most blessed Child,
To give Thee moments rest.

"Cast all your cares on Him,
for He cares for you."
- 1 Peter 5:7

Batter My Heart!

Have you ever read a poem and felt that it perfectly captured emotions you've had during a certain experience? As F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.” I find this extremely helpful especially in spiritual writings and rhymes: We're all trying, all struggling and all fighting to live a life in triumph over weaknesses and surrender to our God.

Holy Sonnet 14
by John Donne
Batter my heart, three-personed God; for You
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, overthrow me,'and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurped town, to'another due,
Labor to'admit You, but O, to no end;
Reason, Your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captivated, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly'I love you,' and would be loved fain,
But am betrothed unto your enemy.
Divorce me,'untie or break that knot again;
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you'enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

Love Will Follow You All The Way Home...

  • Every joy and Holy pain
  • Every kiss and bloody stain
  • Ah, the proof that we have lived!
  • In no beginning and no end!
  • Every flash of light you've seen!
  • Every color every dream!
  • Will be forever singing on
  • In the Holy Mind of God-
  • The Immortal burning Sun with
  • Every person that you've loved!
  • And I swear it will be enough.
  • And you'll be there...

    Let it be

I am a strange person. When I am over whelmed by beauty, love, gratitude or whatever it is, I squirm. My heart feels immediately restless and tries to wriggle away from these feeling because I simply do not know what to do with them. I am lost; I have no idea how to be thankful for so much goodness and I get restless instead of just...well, being
God knows we cannot ever fully thank Him for all the good He does or even truly comprehend it. But still He gives for us to delight. What else is there to do but accept, be thankful, enjoy and just let it be.
